Former President George H.W. Bush is breaking party lines and will vote for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, a Kennedy family member said.
Politico reports that former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, Robert F. Kennedy’s daughter, said Bush, 92, revealed the news Monday when she visited him in Maine.
“The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!” she wrote on Facebook.
But Jim McGrath, a Bush spokesman, would not say whether the claim was true.
“The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days,” McGrath wrote in an email to Politico. “He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim.”
