The American Music Awards are hosted by model Gigi Hadid and comedian Jay Pharaoh. The duo didn’t wait long before joking about the most recent election, taking aim at the new first family in their opening monologue.

“A Tribe Called Quest has a new album, Jenny McCarthy is here, Green Day is performing and a white guy is president. It’s the ‘90s all over again,” Pharaoh said of current events.

Hadid did an impression of Melania Trump’s plagiarism of Michelle Obama’s speech.

“I love my husband, President Barack Obama, and our children, Sasha and Malia,” she joked.

Pharaoh in turn did his own impression of the future commander-in-chief.

“I love Bruno Mars. I don’t know what color he is so I can’t deport him,” he joked in his best Donald Trump impression. “He looks like Mowgli from ‘The Jungle Book.’I love ‘Uptown Funk,’ it was all about me. I’m going to funk this country up bigly.”
