The Duggar family has expanded again!

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have been awarded temporary guardianship of an 8-year old boy, In Touch reports.

The boy is the son of Michelle Duggar’s niece, Rachel Hutchins, who has reportedly been struggling to take care of him. Hutchins is unemployed, homeless, and has legal and financial troubles.

According to public records, Hutchins is on three-year probation following an arrest in April for a felony charge of breaking and entering. She allegedly broke into a tow truck company in Springdale, Ark., and stole a pocket knife and $2 in change.

Insiders believe the Duggars would like to take the child on full time. They are due back in court on Nov. 14.

“There’s a strong hope that once that happens, they will be able to adopt him,” a source close to the family said.

Hutchins has reportedly already signed the documents to grant the Duggars guardianship. “She gave up custody of her son [in August 2015] to her mother, Michelle’s sister Carolyn. But in July, Carolyn suffered a stroke,” the insider said.

The Duggars plan to keep the child off reality TV at this time.
