It’s been an amazing year, hasn’t it? We have a new president, we have new World Series champs (congrats Cubbies), we have a new CMA entertainer of the year (yay Garth), and we even have our own new awards show — the Rare Country Awards! There’s so much to be thankful for that in this special edition of Rare Country’s 5, and host Erin Holt re-caps some of the things we’re most thankful for.
We’ll count them down starting with No. 5, which goes to Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton.
Now, hold on. Yes, we know they are no longer a couple, but we also know that what they’ve given us in 2016 is plenty of reason to keep believing in love. They’ve been an example of hope, faith and love, and for that, we are grateful.
In October of 2016, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill announced they were reuniting for another Soul2Soul Tour and that’s our No. 4 thing to be grateful for! The couple hasn’t toured together in the U.S. since 2007, so to see them reunited on that glorious stage is a gratitude moment for sure!
Coming in hot at No. 3, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have delivered up a generous helping of music in 2016, including a duets project, “Christmas Together,” and it is everything we ever hoped it could be. And for that, we are thankful.
Any time George Strait’s name pops up in conversation, we’re grateful, but when the King of Country Music releases a new album, it’s definitely worthy of our No. 2 spot on Rare Country’s 5. George’s new project, “Strait Out of the Box: Part 2,” is a monster collection of 56 songs, and that much of George is musical euphoria, at least for 2016.
Our top spot on this week’s Rare Country 5 goes to… wait. We’re gonna need a drum roll for this one. No. 1 on this week’s Rare Country’s 5 is Luke Bryan’s butt. Yeah, we hate to reduce this handsome, kind and incredibly talented superstar to one body part, but we also know that Luke has an amazing sense of humor and will appreciate the recognition that his posterior got in 2016. Why else would he keep shaking it for us, right? Thank you, Luke!
Thanks for tuning in to this special installment of Rare Country’s 5. Come back every Saturday when Erin re-caps another exciting week in the world of country music.
