We’ve all watched as Jana Kramer has been run through the wringer of emotions, as she shared the very personal news that she and husband Michael Caussin were separating. In the following days, news trickled out that Michael was, in fact, being admitted into a rehabilitation facility, and then we learned that he was seeking treatment for a sex addiction.
Through it all, Jana has remained a virtual pillar of strength as she has continued a busy tour schedule, remained a viable competitor on “Dancing With the Stars” and been a loving and doting mother to her baby girl, Jolie. She’s been present on social media, so we’ve seen a few tears and some pensive moments, but she has mostly remained upbeat and strong, keeping her focus on what matters most and doing her best to keep the personal side private without closing off her fans, friends and family.
She has also continued to wear a ring on her left hand ring finger, presumably her wedding band.
On Oct. 7, Jana’s husband, Michael, finally issued a statement to People, addressing his behavior and their marriage saying, “I acknowledge that certain actions and behaviors have caused issues in my marriage, and I am deeply sorry for the pain I have caused Jana. I have and will continue to take the steps needed to change who I am as a person in order to be a better husband and father.”
In the current issue of People, prior to this statement, Jana said, “Michael Caussin was biggest of the betrayals because it was the first time in a relationship where I truly loved the version of me…I didn’t feel I had to prove that I was good enough; I was vulnerable and finally at peace with myself. I was fooled. I couldn’t believe I was in another bad relationship.”
Recently, Rare Country reported that Jana’s first marriage to Michael Gambino had been physically abusive, leaving Jana unconscious and bleeding outside their L.A. home, and that he was imprisoned for several years. He committed suicide after his release.
Jana has not yet responded to Michael’s statement or mentioned reconciliation, but hopefully this is a significant step in her healing.
