“Fly over States” was a huge hit, but it’s also a song Jason Aldean gambled and risked losing out on.
By the time Jason got around to releasing the video for “Fly over States” in March of 2012, he was already well established as a superstar. Not only was it the fifth and final single from his album,”My Kinda Party,” but it was also his ninth single in a row that went to either No. 1 or No. 2 on the charts.
Jason actually had the opportunity to record it for his 2009 album “Wide Open” but opted not to. Luckily for him, nobody snatched it up and cut it before he went back into the studio to record the tracks for “My Kinda Party.”
“We didn’t really have room to put it on the record and I found myself listening to it over and over, even after we had recorded it,” Aldean told CMT. “I fell in love with the song. It talks about something that doesn’t get a lot of attention anymore, which is the farmers and people who are the backbone of our country. I definitely wanted to put it on [the] record and wanted it to be a single.”
