It’s been about a year since Jason Aldean tied the knot with his wife, Brittany Kerr. Still, some fans still give him flack for how their relationship started. You’ll recall Jason’s first marriage to Jessica Ussery ended in 2013 not long after TMZ published photos of him getting cozy with Brittany.

So, what does Jason say to those people still giving him grief about it all?

“People are very opinionated about things they’re not really aware of,” Jason tells “People.” “But at the same time, I’m not going to spend all my time defending myself. I am what I am. People that know me or know my situation, they actually know.”

Anyone in the know on Jason’s life will tell you life is really good for the 39-year-old superstar. He just won ACM entertainer of the year in April, and his new album, “They Don’t Know,” which was released on Sept. 9, looks to be a hit with his fans.

That happy life has found its way into the new music.

Says Jason, “On this album, instead of focusing on all that other stuff that was going on for so long, everything is good and it made a world of difference for me. Anytime you’re in a place where you can relax and when you’re happy, that’s going to make everything else better.”
