In “The First Family Detail: Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of the Presidents,” New York Times bestselling author Ronald Kessler gives an inside look at what the Secret Service experiences based on exclusive, on-the-record interviews.

Kessler writes, “routinely, the vice president thoughtlessly decides to go to Wilmington or elsewhere without giving agents any advance notice.”

“Because Biden is so unpredictable and his personal trips so frequent, the Secret Service rents more than twenty condominiums in Greenville for agents who must accompany him when he returns to his home state,” Kessler says.

And the cost to taxpayers?

Kessler talked to Rare on Tuesday about how Biden’s office tried to cover-up the vice president’s abuse of taxpayer dollars.

His new book “The First Family Detail: Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of the Presidents.” Ronald thanks for being with us today on Rare.

Ronald Kessler: Thanks for having me.

Kurt Wallace: Let’s talk about the financial abuse taking place at the highest levels. In your book you say that Vice President Joe Biden has racked up costs to taxpayers of millions of dollars to fly to and from his home in Delaware on Air Force Two. His office tried to cover up the costs of the personal trips.

Ronald Kessler: Yeah this is quite interesting. It’s almost like Nixon trying to cover up Watergate. Obviously, it’s not as serious but it’s still trying to cover up personal abuse.

I filed a Freedom of Information act request to get those Air Force records on his trips. And within a few weeks the Air Force compiled the records but then I was told that by a source that Jessica Hurst Biden’s council in his senate office had intervened, taken over took charge of the case even though that’s not the way it’s supposed to work and ordered the Air Force not to give me those records. And she claims that she didn’t understand the request and she had all these excuses. And then said that they should go back to the original records in each plane rather than use these computer records that the Air Force had already compiled even though Jessica Hurst claims she didn’t understand what I was asking for.

She, by the way, served as a clerk to the Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor when she was Appeals Court Justice. But the Air Force sources did give me the records and they show that he has cost taxpayers a million dollars since taking office. And eventually they did finally send me the records after six months. But this was an effort by Biden’s own office to cover up his own abuse.
