There are days we look forward to – birthdays, anniversaries, trips and holidays  — that shine with hope and happiness among hundreds of other more mundane days.

Yet, something as cruel as a cancer diagnosis suddenly makes everyday a special one.

During a week that included everything from their dear daughter Indiana’s birthday on Feb. 17 to the release of their new album, Joey+Rory recently found yet another way to express their love for one another.

“If Jody helps me to scoot over to one side…could you try to lay down with me and put your arms around me?” Joey recently asked.

“I haven’t been able to be in the same bed with my wife or hold her in my arms since the beginning of November – when she made her last trip to the hospital,” added Rory in a Feb. 19 blog post. “But for one sweet half-an-hour… that changed.”

It was a sweet moment for the couple, which had long looked at the week as somewhat of a goal in Joey’s cancer journey.

“Joey barely slept the night before Indiana’s birthday,” Rory wrote in that same blog post. “She was too excited.  Jody said she didn’t fall asleep until about 5 am, around the time that Indy and I woke up.   When Joey woke up, a little before noon, I came in to see her… and tears were flowing down her face.  Again, I put my arms around her and asked, “why are you crying honey?”…“We made it…”, she softly answered.  “We made it.”
