Any reader of Rory Feek’s revealing blog knows that somehow, the country singer can make the most tragic of circumstances sound beautiful.
But perhaps that’s Joey+Rory’s greatest gift.
The gift of making the ordinary seem extraordinary and the gift of taking a devastating cancer diagnosis and making it serve as a way for all of us to see all of our blessings a little bit clearer. Even the most mundane daily tasks are put into a light that makes them seem amazing.
That’s exactly what happened in a picture shared on Joey+Rory’s socials on the afternoon of Jan. 21, when the country duo shared a picture of Joey making the family a Sunday meal in her hospital bed at around the same time some of us were probably complaining about the mundane task.
Joey+Rory have given us the gift of perspective.
“When a mother can’t get to the kitchen to help make her family dinner… you bring the kitchen to mama,” Rory captioned the picture, which served as yet another reminder of the life these two are leading at the moment.
“Please don’t think that our life is all sappy tears and Hallmark-movie moments, like something out of a Nicholas Sparks novel, because it’s not,” Rory added in a Feb. 19 blog post. “There is lots of real pain and hurt and frustration and fun and laughter… and most times, we just pinch ourselves because we feel so darn lucky and blessed. But the moments that seem to stand out – the ones that matter and hurt the most of course – have tears in them. And I can’t help but share a few of the most powerful moments as they happen.”
