“The View” reacted Thursday to President-elect Donald Trump’s Wednesday press conference, during which he denounced CNN as “fake news” and would not allow reporter Jim Acosta to ask a question.

The exchange was connected to BuzzFeed’s publishing of a 35-page dossier filled with unsubstantiated salacious claims about Trump and Russia, which “The View” joked about on Wednesday.
That the dossier existed and was being shared around by high level officials was first reported by CNN, but the details of the dossier were not, because they were unsubstantiated.

The president-elect’s condemnation of “fake news” more generally happened on Twitter, while CNN and BuzzFeed were singled out during the press conference.

On Thursday, “The View’s” Joy Behar called attention to Trump’s tweet about Nazi Germany and compared him to Adolf Hitler’s propagandist, Joseph Goebbels.

In the tweet, Trump wrote “Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to have ‘leaked’ into the public. One last shot at me.” He then asked, “Are we living in Nazi Germany?”

Behar said Trump’s comments were ironic because he is a “fake billionaire with a fake tan, and a fake university and a fake foundation” who cares about fake news.
“This invocation of Nazi Germany that he did in one of his tweets, ‘Oh, it’s like Nazi Germany,’ then he stifles a reporter from asking a question — that’s like right out of the playbook of Joseph Goebbels,” she said. “Read your history.”
Others on the panel said that Trump-CNN spat is emblematic of Trump’s chilling disregard for the free press.
Trump has been feuding publicly with CNN for some time.
Over the summer, Trump called CNN “the worst,” “low ratings” and “all negative when it comes to me.”
