President-elect Donald Trump met with former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, despite Romney being one of his toughest critics during the campaign cycle. Trump’s transition team has demanded an apology from Romney, particularly if he wishes to seek an appointment to a position.

On Sunday, senior adviser to and former campaign manager for Trump, interviewed with Dana Bash on CNN’S “State of the Union” to disavow Romney.

Conway previously tweeted her opposition to Trump’s meeting:

When asked about the tweet and if Romney would be a loyal secretary of State, Conway said, “I would hope so.” She said that the job demanded loyalty and an ability to support the president.

Conway criticized Romney, indicating that she was still displeased:

The number of people who feel betrayed to think that Governor Romney would get the most Cabinet post after he went so far out of his way to to hurt Donald Trump- There was the Never Trump movement and then there was Mitt Romney. He gave speeches against Donald Trump, he attacked his character. I never heard Governor Romney come out and say, “Hey, I have a problem with xyz, but that 25-million job creation plan for the next 10 years is really something to look at.”

With that, Conway promised that Trump’s appointee, whether it be Romney or someone else, would receive the support of his team.

Following her various statements, Conway had this interaction on Twitter with CNN’s Ana Navarro:

Some in the Trump camp, including former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, were less than happy that Romney was anywhere near the president-elect following the election:

“It’s not about that I don’t care for Mitt personally, but I’m still very unhappy that Mitt did everything he could to derail Donald Trump,” said Huckabee. He is one of the voices insisting that Romney apologize:

There’s only one way that I think Mitt Romney could even be considered for a post like that, and that is he goes to a microphone in a very public place and repudiates everything he said in that famous Salt Lake City speech and everything he said after that.
