When it comes to country stars that go at it hard and heavy, almost depleting their energy supply while they’re on tour, it’s hard to beat Kenny Chesney. In fact, from 2001 through 2013, he hit it so hard that he basically took a year off of touring just to rest and refuel. It has paid off, though, with one of the most successful careers and award-winning tours in country music, rivaled only by Garth Brooks. And stadiums? Psh! Kenny has basically set the standard for country stars doing stadium shows, and even with the competition, he can still pack them out on multiple sold-out nights.

But, things are changing in 2017. After several incredibly busy and high-profile years, Kenny is taking it a little easier in 2016. Now, that doesn’t mean you can’t see him, it just means you have to plan it a little in advance if it’s a big show you’re after, because on Nov. 21, the superstar announced that the only stadium he would play in the new year is his beloved Gillette on Aug. 25.

Of all the stadiums that Kenny has played, how did he pick the legendary venue in Foxboro, Massachusetts? In an Instagram post he says, “From the beginning, the amount of heart and soul that came at us from the first note at Gillette was beyond intense. It’s never let up, it’s never slowed down. Every summer, every show, every song, they push us even harder than we push them. It’s kind of addicting and something I can’t imagine a summer without.”

Even though I’m not going to go out with a full tour next year, I can’t imagine summer without getting out there and rocking everyone at @gillettestadium. From the beginning, the amount of heart and soul that came at us from the first note at Gillette was beyond intense. It’s never let up, it’s never slowed down. Every summer, every show, every song, they push us even harder than we push them. It’s kind of addicting, and something I can’t imagine a summer without. So we’re coming, Boston – and you know, this is our one shot at a big, big show, so you better get ready. The ONLY 2017 stadium show will be at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA on August 25 with @thomasrhettakins and @olddominionmusic. The presale begins this Wednesday, Nov 23 at 12pm ET on KennyChesney.com. Become a premium No Shoes Nation member now for presale ticket access, exclusive content and more at KennyChesney.com

Thomas Rhett and Old Dominion are the lucky newbies that will open the show for Kenny and pre-sale tickets go on sale Wednesday, Nov. 23 at KennyChesney.com, so you do have time to make your travel plans, but don’t hesitate to buy tickets. We’re predicting a sell-out.

Now, if you don’t care about where you see Kenny in 2017, there are a few other opportunities, and we promise they’ll be awesome, too. On April 9, he plays Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on May 20 he’s in Madison, Wisconsin at the C-Spire Live Day of Country, and he’ll be back on the beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina June 10 for the Carolina Country Music Festival, then he’s off to Country Jam in Grand Junction, Colorado on June 15.

What’s he doing the rest of the year? Well, he just put out his new album, “Cosmic Hallelujah,” so we don’t anticipate another one, but hey, it’s Kenny and if he wants to put out new music, we’re buying it. He could very well add more dates, but if you have to see him in 2017, don’t wait for that announcement, make your plans now. Or he could be vacationing, in which case, Kenny?
