All the classic lasagna ingredients — marinara, ricotta, mozzarella, meatballs — are layered and sandwiched between buttermilk bread. Everything is pan-fried like classic grilled cheese, and the crispy, gooey, cheesy creation is born.
The structure of the bread adds a new texture to lasagna and lets you take it on the go. It’s the perfect lunchtime combo.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 4 slices of thick bread
- 2 Tbsp butter, softened
- 2 Tbsp pasta sauce
- 2 Tbsp ricotta cheese
- 4 large tomato slices (optional)
- 2 meatballs cut into slices (optional)
- 2 slices or 1/4 c shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 Tbsp shredded Parmesan cheese
