There’s no denying that we could easily come up with a long list of country songs that pay homage to the summer season. But, with autumn underway, there are plenty of tunes that set the mood for fall.
And, let’s be honest. When it comes to high school football games, saying “so long” to that summer fling and welcoming new changes in our future, we just can’t help but fall for these hits!
So grab a blanket and prepare to snuggle up to seven songs that get you ready for the fall season!
1. KENNY CHESNEY “BOYS OF FALL”
OK, this song basically says it all in the title. But aside from that, nothing says fall better than the mention of a small-town football game. For many families, getting to see their favorite football star play outside in the crisp air takes bundling up with a coat, hat and gloves.
2. ZAC BROWN BAND “COLDER WEATHER”
You may need a hot toddy for this one. Oh, and maybe a few tissues, too. If the music video, which features a snow blizzard doesn’t give you the chills, the storyline just might. In fact, it is about a pair of lovers dealing with being separated from one another due to “colder weather.”
3. CARRIE UNDERWOOD “ALL AMERICAN GIRL”
Perhaps there’s no other song that highlights going back to school better than this one. The start of every fall semester opens the doors to new football games, cheerleader tryouts and of course, new relationships.
4. GEORGE STRAIT “THE CHILL OF AN EARLY FALL”
George Strait has a ton of hits, but this melancholy tune describes the feeling of fall to the tee. Crooning words like chilly, wind and even the month of October makes us want to cozy up next to a fireplace with none other than a pumpkin spice latte.
5. JASON ALDEAN “A LITTLE MORE SUMMERTIME”
Saying goodbye to the summer can sometimes mean saying farewell to a summer romance, too. And, it seems that Jason is longing for both of those to stay with his wistful “A Little More Summertime.” But, hey those days aren’t gone forever.
6. KEITH URBAN “TIL THE SUMMER COMES AROUND”
Another song that laments summer days slipping away along with those sizzling relationships is Keith’s groovy single. We definitely feel a chill in the air with the ballad’s lonely lyrics about reminiscing over a ladylove. But, of course, as they say, distance does make the heart grow fonder.
5. LORRIE MORGAN “AUTUMN’S NOT THAT COLD”
This song may be about closing the door on a past relationship. But, it’s actually pretty uplifting. The tune welcomes change and encourages the idea of turning a new leaf.
