Dallas Davidson is one of those guys.

While you might not know his name, he’s written or co-written hundreds of songs, 22 of which have gone to No. 1. Luke Bryan is one of those artists who’s taken a Davidson tune to the top.

The two often write together as they’re more than musical buddies, they’ve been friends since they were young and grew up together in Georgia. One song the two wrote together was rooted in a childhood memory the two remember quite well, which is surprising considering it involves a drop or two of whiskey.

“We had a guy that was a great whiskey drinker and philosopher,” Luke recalls of their days back home. “He had a farm and we’d sit out there and fry fish and talk about the creek and what was going on down there. We’d be out there and there’d be rain coming off his roof, and me and Dallas would want to go fishing. The rain was jacking us up but he’d say ‘…boys, rain makes corn and corn makes whiskey.’”

And that’s how “Rain is a Good Thing” was born.
