Part of what makes country music so appealing can be credited back to iconic songwriter and producer Harland Howard who said that country music is “three chords and the truth.” Country music fans can relate to it, and they can find their own stories in the lyrics of the songs.

And that’s what Miranda is hoping for with her newest release, “The Weight of These Wings.” After a couple of heartbreaking years that culminated in her divorce from ex-husband Blake Shelton, Miranda admits that the truth of the story, her heart and her feelings found their way into the lyrics of the songs on the double-disc album.

In a beautiful and stirring new Instagram video, Miranda talks about the project saying, “I feel really strongly about the only talking that I needed to do, I’ve done and it’s on tape. And what all do you say and what all do you not say, it’s all there. All the parts of me, all the parts of the pain I went through, everything that happens to a person in their life, especially in the last couple of years for me, is on this record.”

Miranda has been mostly silent about the the end of her relationship with Blake, as well as her budding relationship with singer-songwriter Anderson East, perhaps to avoid becoming fodder for tabloid gossip. But she also admits, “People will think what they will, they’ll say what they will, but I’m mostly hoping they’ll read into this music and feel their own journey. There’s nothing else you want as a songwriter but to write something down and someone go, ‘Hey, that’s my story, too.’”
