Must-see: Officer comforts fallen four-legged partner in final moments after she saved his life

Losing a friend or family member is hard. And losing your work partner is no different.

The Houston Police Department recently lost one of its police horses. Charlotte, a four-year-old horse, died trying to protect Officer D. Herrejon while the duo was patrolling city streets.

Charlotte was startled whens he heard a cement truck. According to TheDodo.com, she bucked Herrejon, and ran into the street where she was hit by a car.

Below is their heart-wrenching final moments together.

“She loved her job and was always ready to go to work putting bad guys in jail or giving nuzzles to children,” it said on the police department’s Facebook page. She served the citizens of Houston for 4 years. She will be missed.”
