Obama exempts Congress from Obamacare

by Matt Cover | Posted on

The Obama administration has exempted Congress from a requirement in Obamacare — put there by Congress — that requires members and their staffs to buy an Obamacare health plan.

The White House’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) according to Politico will issue regulations saying that the government can effectively subsidize Congress’ gold-plated health plans, sparing members and staff from having to pay the higher prices brought on by Obamacare.

In other words, Congress originally required that members and staff had to buy health care on the same exchanges where they’re making everyone else buy insurance. Now, thanks to personal intervention from Obama, they won’t have to pay the full cost of that insurance.

Must be nice.
