Now that it’s December, everybody is feeling the Christmas spirit; there are stockings to be hung and trees to be erected and one Maryland beaver knows that all the best Christmas decorations go early.

According to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, “Corporal Yingling had an interesting call on Monday when the suspect, pictured below, caused property damage to a Dollar Store in Charlotte Hall. The suspect attempted to flee the area but was apprehended by Animal Control.”

It seems the beaver was just looking for some logs that he might use for his dam. While the little guy did knock a few items off shelves, no serious damage was done in the Dollar Store isles.

The beaver was safely apprehended by animal control and released into the wild where he could find plenty of trees (the wooden kind) for his lodge. No charges are pending at this time. And no, the beaver did not pay his bond with fish.
