Randy Travis is mourning the loss of his father, Harold Bruce Traywick, who passed away Saturday, Oct. 8 at his home in Marshville, North Carolina. He was 83.

Randy is the second of six children born to Harold and his wife, Bobbie. She passed away in 1998.

Over the course of his life, Harold owned a construction company, raised cattle and horses, ran a meat route and owned a turkey farm. He was especially passionate about horses and spent many years breaking and training them.

You can see that work with horses pay off in some of Randy’s videos, like “Wind in the Wire.”

Harold Traywick will be remembered with a memorial service on Wednesday, Oct. 12. On Oct. 16, Randy Travis will be formally inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at the annual Medallion Ceremony.
