Don’t call Pippa Middleton a socialite — there’s way more to her than looks and money.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, the younger sister of Duchess Kate kept it real about living in the spotlight.

“I have had a few years of being in the public eye, and I have developed something of a thick skin,” Pippa, 33, told the news outlet in an interview published Sept. 18. “But managing it all on my own has been quite hard. I have quite a lot thrown at me, such as being followed by people hiding behind cars and jumping out with cameras. It can be unnerving.”

During the interview, the “Celebrate” author shot down misconceptions that her life is all about fame and fortune.

“People see me as someone privileged who has used my position to advantage; that I don’t really work, that I am a socialite — that word really irritates me — and that I’m a party girl without any substance,” she told the Daily Mail.

But it sounds like there’s much more to the author’s life than meets the eye.

As Rare previously reported, Middleton got engaged to boyfriend James Matthews on July 17. The Daily Mail was one of the first news outlets to report that Matthews popped the question while the couple vacationed in the Lake District of England.
