On Saturday morning, President-elect Donald Trump sent out several tweets defending Vice President-elect Mike Pence after Pence’s trip to a Broadway show made headlines.

On Friday, Pence attended a performance of “Hamilton” in New York City. When he went to his seat he was met with a chorus of boos and some cheers. Throughout the show, audience members reacted to lines in the dialogue and songs that aligned with their perception of Trump and Pence.

Once the show was over, the cast and crew delivered a message to Pence as he was walking out the door.

As people began to boo Pence again, a member of the cast told them to stop booing and then plead with Pence to be a VP for all people.

“Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you, and we truly thank you for joining us here at ‘Hamilton: An American Musical.’ We really do,” Brandon Dixon said.
“We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us. Thank you.”
Come Saturday morning, President-elect Trump was demanding an apology from the cast after he felt that his VP had been disrespected.

“Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

“The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!”
