Presenting Sir Rod Stewart!

The musician was knighted Tuesday by Prince William at Buckingham Palace. According to PEOPLE, Queen Elizabeth announced Stewart’s knighthood¬†in June during her official 90th birthday celebration.

Stewart is recognized for his music career and contributions to charity. He reportedly is a supporter of Prince Charles’s Prince’s Trust, a foundation that benefits disadvantaged youths.

Prince William first tapped the sward on Stewart’s¬†left shoulder, then his right.

Stewart was accompanied to the palace by his wife, Penny Lancaster, and their sons, Aiden and Alastair.

Following the ceremony, the Royal Family tweeted a message to the musician.

“Congratulations Sir @RodStewart, honoured by The Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace today for services to music and charity.”
