Following the death of Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom became the world’s longest reigning monarch.

The 90-year-old queen has held her throne for 64 years and eight months, and surpassed her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria’s reign last year.

The seasoned royal has paved the way for some of the longest reigning monarchs in the world, including Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah (49 years) and Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said al-Said (46 years).

And she just gets better with age.
