Henderson, who was often lauded as a nurturer, was a very motherly figure toward O’Donnell.

She told O’Donnell on the show that “Ever since I first saw you, I always wanted to hug you and be your mother because I thought you needed me.” O’Donnell agreed with her “dream mom,” telling her that she lost her own mother when she was only 10 years old.

Henderson recalled the story of her audition, how she straightened out William Shatner after he and Leonard Nimoy weren’t all that kind to her, and how much she loved “The Brady Bunch.”
