Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter Chelsea O’Donnell has been hospitalized in Long Island.
The formerly estranged daughter of the TV personality is reportedly undergoing a psychiatric evaluation and is “alert and awake” and “safe.” At this time, there is no word on if and when she will be released.
According to E! News, the 19-year-old has been admitted to a state-wide program that offers psychiatric evaluations on an emergency basis and offers treatments such as interventions and referrals on a patient-need basis. While she is hospitalized, Chelsea will be evaluated by social workers and psychiatrists.
Chelsea and Rosie were estranged for some time. When she was 17 years old, Chelsea ran away from her home prompting Rosie to issue a plea for her daughter’s safety on her website. “Chelsea stopped taking her medicine and is in need of medical attention,” Rosie posted on her website at the time. “Any information please contact authorities.”
Chelsea was later found at the home of a 26-year-old man with an arrest warrant. No arrests were made at the time because Chelsea was there willingly.
The following year, Chelsea and Rosie faced more turmoil when Chelsea decided to move back into the home of her birth mother, Deanna Micoley, who gave her up for adoption in 1997.
Things seemed to be better between the mother and daughter over the summer when they reconciled and started spending more time together.
In August, Rosie posted a selfie with Chelsea, celebrating their time together.
“chelsea and me – what a difference a year makes #hopelives.”
