Country music superstar Keith Urban has dropped the new music video for his latest single, “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” And, it’s incredibly intoxicating!
Actress and model Amber Valetta plays a woman rejected in the intimate, black and white clip, created by director Carter Smith.
The blonde beauty enters an empty bar with a broken heart and a despairing look on her face. She plays a song on the jukebox and nurses her pain with a romantic, solo dance. That’s when Keith suddenly appears onstage, along with two other musicians.
He leans into the microphone and serenades the woman. But, when the music stops, the woman becomes ejected from her dream-like state-of-mind, and Keith is no longer in the room.
Prior to the Sept. 16 midnight release of the clip. Keith answered questions about the new video via Facebook Live.
When one fan asked Keith where he drew inspiration for his outfit in the video the Aussie explained, “It really came from when I did ‘American Idol’ with Carrie Underwood, because it was the finale [and] I played in a suit. This whole idea kind of started from the idea of having to play in a suit. From there, obviously there was the story of the song, [which] is pretty strong. We started building the concept from there, but the initial spark and inspiration was really about that.”
The waltzy “Blue Ain’t Your Color” — co-written by Steven Lee Olsen, Hillary Lindsey and Clint Lagerberg — is the fourth single off of Keith’s 2016 “Ripcord” album. Keith is currently supporting the album on his Ripcord World Tour. Carrie will join Keith on the trek in December when he heads to Australia and New Zealand.
