There wasn’t a dry eye in the audience after Julia Louis Dreyfus took the stage.

The “Veep” actress accepted her fifth consecutive Emmy Award on Sunday night and took the time to thank some of her favorite people.

She also took a moment to apologize to America for the current presidential election.

“I think that ‘Veep’ has torn down the wall between comedy and politics. Our show started out as a political satire but now it feels more like a sobering documentary. So, I certainly do promise to rebuild that wall and make Mexico pay for it,” she joked.

Louis-Dreyfus was then choked up when she thanked another very important person for their support.

“Lastly, I would like to thank my father, William Louis Dreyfus who passed away on Friday. I’m so glad that he liked ‘Veep’ because his opinion was the one that really mattered.”

Rest in peace, William Louis Dreyfus. We know you were smiling down at your little girl tonight.
