Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan recently began filming a series called “Thirty Days,” in which he goes on “a trip to see if the American culture that I recognized as being a part of was still there.” In other words, heĀ is trying to “get back in touch” with the world he grew up in, looking for signs that working class America is still alive and well.

Corgan frequently reports back with his finding onĀ 97.9 The Loopās “Mancow Morning Show,” and this week’s conversation dealt with the mainstream media, “fake news,” and President-elect Donald Trump, whom Corgan supports.
“I think itās an important time, and Iām trying to document that as an artist,ā he saidĀ while discussing the 35-page Trump dossier published by BuzzFeed and reported by CNN and other major news outlets. āIf I just filter what I read through the media, which obviously yesterday was a watershed day with the media, if I just filter what I read through the media, Iām not really in touch with the world I grew up in. I know thereās a gap there.”
In addition to blasting the dossier’s unverified claims about Trump, Corgan also let loose on CNN’s Anderson Cooper, who recently got into an on-air feud with Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, and reveled in the “meltdown” of mainstream media.
“Itās one of the most embarrassing things Iāve ever seen from a journalist, especially someone at his level who understands the game,” he said. “He absolutely is melting down trying to pin her down, and itās amazing watching the mainstream American media meltdown before our eyes. Itās something I thought Iād never see.”
