The details behind the Fort Lauderdale airport shooting are chilling

An active shooter fired thirteen times Friday afternoon in a luggage claim at the Fort Lauderdale international airport.

The shooter, named Esteban Santiago, arrived to the airport on an Air Canada flight, where he checked his weapon, unloaded.

After exiting the plane, he proceeded to baggage claim in Terminal 2, where he went to the bathroom and loaded his gun.

At least 13 people were shot, and five people were killed. According to Shepard Smith on Fox News, the shooter was targeting people in the head.

The police said in an afternoon press conference that the scene is still “active and fluid.”

The shooter is currently in custody and being interviewed by FBI agents. No motive has been identified at this time.
