The grandmother who apparently overdosed with her friend in a car with a boy in the back seat of pleaded no contest on Thursday.
Rhonda Pasek, 50, pleaded no contest to public intoxication, child endangerment, disorderly conduct and a seat belt violation, WKBN 27 reported. Pasek is to pay a $280 fine and was sentenced to 180 days in jail.
“I don’t condone what she did, but she is not a bad person,” Pasek’s sister told NBC News. “She loves that boy.”
East Liverpool police posted a photo of the affidavit issued on Sept. 7 along with the terrible photos on Facebook.
The man in the car, James Acord, was sentenced to 360 days in jail and also pleaded no contest to child endangering charges. According to PIX11, he was also fined $475 and got his driver’s license suspended for 3 years.
The 4-year-boy will reportedly live with his great-aunt and great-uncle in South Carolina.
The East Liverpool, Ohio, police department posted the horrific photos last week. Police also administered Narcan to the two adults to reverse the overdoses.
