It has to be one of the hardest things an entertainer ever does, to leave behind their children while they tour and make the public appearances required of their jobs. More and more often, we see country music moms and dads bringing their babies with them on the road, creating mobile nurseries on their homes on wheels. But that isn’t always possible and there was a time when that wasn’t the norm at all.

Lee Ann Womack came up with a clever way to bridge the gap between herself and her baby girls when she had to spend time away. Now, though, her oldest daughter is all grown up with a career of her own, but you can bet that gesture her mama made has stuck with the young woman.

In an Instagram photo, Aubrie, Lee Ann’s oldest daughter, shared a photo of a pair of teddy bears. She writes, “When I was 6 years old, mom took me to Walmart to get something I could keep to feel close to her while she was gone on her radio tour. We found a mama bear holding a baby bear and she took the baby and I kept the mama, and when she finally got home we sewed them back together and kept them all these years. For the past 8 weeks roles have been reversed and I’ve been on my radio tour, and these two have been traveling again: backstage at the Ryman, in hotel rooms, rental cars, airplane seat pockets, suitcases and trains. Now they get to be reunited again.”

Yes, Aubrie is Aubrie Sellers, who is following in her famous mother’s footsteps with her own burgeoning career in country music. She goes on in the post to thank the fine folks at radio who are playing her first single, “Sit Here and Cry.”

Lee Ann reposted the photo and added, “Now I am sitting here and crying.”

Could someone pass the tissues?
