The way people dig for razor clams is simultaneously fascinating and disgusting

Pacific razor clams are found on the west coast of the United States, buried in beaches from Alaska to California. According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, they create key-shaped holes in the sand, which are easily spotted at low tide.

To catch a razor clam, pour a little salt in the hole, then wash it down with some seawater. Repeat the process until the clam appears. It looks like this:
