The family of country icon Johnny Cash finally has some justice in the 2014 murder of Cash’s great niece, Courtney Cash. The 23-year-old’s body was discovered in a cedar box at her home in Baxter, Tennessee. According to “The Tennessean,” Wayne Masciarella of Cape May, New Jersey has pleaded guilty to the murder charge against him. He is also accused of stabbing Cash’s boyfriend, William Austin Johnson.

According to the sheriff in Putnam County, Tennessee, Cash and Johnson were understood to be friends with Masciarella. There was a dispute between them, and Masciarella stabbed them both before fleeing the scene.

To make matters even worse, Johnson’s 20-month-old daughter was in the house at the time but was not injured. Johnson was treated for multiple wounds at the hospital, and the baby was sent to a relative’s house.

Courtney Cash is the granddaughter of Johnny Cash’s brother, Tommy Cash. He has asked for prayers and privacy for the family.
