Lee Jordan, a man once plagued by a host of obesity-related health issues, lost nearly 300 pounds after reuniting with his high-school sweetheart.
“Beth looked at me and all she saw was Lee Jordan,” the Florida man told the Daily Mail, remembering what was then his first encounter with his now-wife in more than 20 years.
“I cannot express how powerful that was. That was the turning point that gave me the willingness to turn things around.”
Mr. Jordan and his wife, Beth Schwein, met at a church youth group when they were teenagers, dated in college but parted ways when they couldn’t reconcile their life trajectories.
“While Schwein was on a straight-and-narrow path, Jordan focused more on partying and less on academics,” reports CNN.
The two, however, got back together years later — creating for themselves a lifestyle jam-packed with fitness activities and a diet that eventually saved Mr. Jordan’s life.
According to the Daily Mail, Mr. Jordan now weighs in at 178 pounds, down from his all-time high of 453 pounds.
“‘Love, acceptance and encouragement [were] the difference-makers for me,” he told the Daily Mail. “If you do a little at a time, you can gain so much.”
