In the wake of the attacks on Paris, much of the international conversation has focused on ISIS and on the resettlement of Syrian refugees. One Parisian, with a simple act, decided to take part in that conversation.

This video from NBC News shows the unidentified man out at Place de la Republique (not far from the Bataclan concert hall, one of the attack sites) wearing a blindfold and carrying a sign.

“I’m a Muslim and I’m told I’m a terrorist,” read the sign, in French. “I trust you. Do you trust me? If yes, hug me.”

He ended up getting quite a number of takers, and even inspired another man to join him with a similar sign.

“We love French people,” he said. “I am Syrian. I am [a] refugee.”
