Country music superstar Thomas Rhett and his stunning wife, Lauren Akins just proved that they make a pretty amazing dream team.
Why? Well, because they came together for one very special cause that will now help change the lives of many young children living in poverty.
On Oct. 4, the couple hosted their very first charity concert, dubbed “Thomas Rhett & Friends.” The event was held at The Old School near Nashville and benefited 147 Million Orphans — an organization that Lauren’s been proudly working with for many years.
“This is what’s been missing from my life,” Lauren tells PEOPLE about the cause, “this is what my heart has been ready for.”
Together, Thomas and Lauren were able to raise more than $250,000, but they didn’t do it without the help of a few friends. Florida Georgia Line, Dierks Bentley and songwriters Shane McAnally, Russel Dickerson and Walker Hayes were also on hand to contribute to the fundraiser.
Although Thomas and Lauren don’t have any children of their own at the moment, making babies isn’t out of the question. Heck, Lauren even says that she and Thomas are open to adopting a little one in the future.
“We both have a huge heart for orphans and I think definitely one day we’d want to [adopt],” said Lauren, “Even before we got married, [adoption] is something I’ve been passionate about. My mother is adopted — I’ve been a product of that. If that’s how the Lord wants to design our family, we’ll roll with it. We definitely want kids.”
Thomas and Lauren will celebrate their four-year wedding anniversary on Oct. 12.
