Trace Adkins is back.
But gosh knows it’s been a rough ride these last couple of years for the country superstar. The year of 2014 was a definite low point for Adkins, seeing him enter rehab and then later in the year, splitting from his wife of 17 years.
However, since that time, Adkins has been focused on the long road back. From what we can see and hear, he spent 2015 doing all the right things. Looking leaner and sounding better than he has in years, Adkins seems happy to be back but quick to admit that even though things are better, the struggle is real.
“This is a song that’s autobiographical,” he said in a recent message to his fans about his revealing new song “Jesus and Jones.” “The first thing I ever did behind a microphone was singing bass in a gospel quartet. At the same time, I was playing guitar and singing in honky tonks, so, that’s when the struggle began… the wrestling match between ‘Jesus’ and ‘Jones,’ and I still struggle with that.”
It’s Adkins’ first song with his new record label Wheelhouse Records, part of the BBR Music Group, which is home to Jason Aldean, Randy Houser, Dustin Lynch and Thomson Square just to name a few. It’s also the first offering from Adkins’ new album that will come out later this year.
