Vice President-elect Mike Pence was in attendance to see hit Broadway musical “Hamilton” on Friday evening. Following the performance, Pence was singled out by cast member Brandon Dixon, who plays the nation’s third vice president Aaron Burr. Dixon said:

We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us.

Pence said that he was not offended by the statement and had in fact informed his children “that’s what freedom sounds like.”

He appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” with an understanding attitude.

Pence, who took his daughter and several other family members to the musical, complimented the show as well as the cast. He told host John Dickerson hat his family enjoyed the production. Pence not only repeated that he was not offended but also brought a message of assurance on the show:

But I want to assure people who were disappointed in the election results, people who are feeling anxious about this time in the life of our nation, that President-elect Donald Trump meant exactly what he said on election night, that he is going to be the president of all the people of the United States of America.
