Vietnam Veteran Sheds a Tear Reflecting at the National World War II Memorial

Marvin Lowe joined the military in 1958. A Vietnam War veteran whose total service lasted 21 years, Lowe says he enlisted because he had a falling out with a guy he was working with on a farm.

He didn’t have much education, so he figured, “I’m going to go in the military and do my part.”

Lowe recently visited Washington, D.C., as part of an Honor Flight trip. He was accompanied by his son, Jim.

“It’s really great to be here, and be here with my son, and see the memorials,” he told Rare. “Finally we got some credit for what we had done.”

Lowe was brought to tears while reflecting on his own service at the World War II memorial in a heartwarming moment.
