When Chris Young was recording his new holiday album, “It Must Be Christmas,” he wanted to enlist a few famous friends to make the project really special. That’s why he called on his hero Alan Jackson and R&B supergroup Boyz II Men to add their talents to the album.

As you can see from this clip from “CMA Country Christmas,” Chris also enlisted his pal Brad Paisley to sing and play on “The First Noel.” While Chris admits that the song is “something you expect to hear on a Christmas record,” Brad’s participation just took things to a whole new level.

When he first talked to Brad about the duet, Chris had just a few things he wanted Brad to do on the song.

Chris tells Rare Country, “I was like, ‘If you’ll just sing these parts, I’ll come back and sing the harmonies over the top of it.’ He sent me the first ‘rough draft’ version of the song and was like, ‘Hey man, I took some liberties. See what you think.'”

Of course, Chris was blown away by all the guitar parts and vocals Brad added to the song.

“He had done, like, all these crazy, cool vocal arrangements,” Chris says, “and I was like, ‘Yeah, that’ll work. That’s OK.'”
