Jennifer Nettles didn’t have much time to record her new holiday album, “To Celebrate Christmas,” but she already knew exactly what she wanted to record and how she wanted it all to sound. After all, she’s been singing new holiday songs every December as the long-running host of “CMA Country Christmas.”

Jennifer tells Rare Country, “This will be now my seventh year, so I have had seven years to audition for myself what holiday songs I like the most. So, that was pretty easy to narrow down. Then the process itself, if you only got a minute, it only takes a minute.”

Jennifer recorded “To Celebrate Christmas” this past summer on top of filming her role as Dolly Parton’s mother in the new TV movie, “Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.”

She adds, “Luckily, I had a very clear vision of the songs that I wanted, and the producer I worked with, Julian Raymond, he was fantastic, and we got it done.”

This year’s “CMA Country Christmas” will feature two collaborations between Jennifer and her guests on “To Celebrate Christmas.” In this clip, you see her performing “Little Drummer Boy” with Broadway superstar Idina Menzel.

Of note, the boy dancing during Jennifer and Idina’s performance is J.T. Church, who you may remember as a finalist on “So You Think You Can Dance?” Idina says of his performance on “CMA Country Christmas,” “I don’t know if anyone even pays attention to us onstage. We’re just completely taken by his talent. He’s so beautiful. I don’t mind being upstaged by him. He’s pretty gorgeous. So, everybody should check him out.”

On top of the Idina Menzel collaboration, Jennifer teams up with R&B star Andra Day for a performance of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” both on “To Celebrate Christmas” and on “CMA Country Christmas,” airing at 8 p.m. ET Monday, Nov. 28 on ABC.
