When a family is thrust into the most tragic of circumstances, some families ultimately crumble. They fall from the weight of fear, uncertainty and hurt feelings, and they never find a way to unite ever again.
And then, there are those families that end up getting stronger.
Joey Feek’s family might just be one of those families.
Speaking at a memorial service for his dear daughter Joey, Jack Martin, standing beside his wife June, put into words the love he felt for the girl from Indiana that the world fell in love with during the past year.
“I don’t talk in front of people,” he said as he approached the podium. “The story I want to tell about Joey is this. A few months ago, Pastor Jerry, I was at his service and I did something – I got saved. That night, I came to see Joey and she knew what had happened. She was grinning from ear to ear. It was really special to her.”
And then, he said a set of words that will break the hearts of any father and daughter.
“I’m so blessed to be the one she called Dad,” Jack said with tears streaming down his face and his wife by his side. “I had no idea that it was the most important thing I could do for Joey.”
