Herman Cain addressed the 50 year anniversary of the War on Poverty on his show Thursday, asking what Americans have to show for the trillions of taxpayer dollars spent to alleviate poverty.

“For 50 years they have been putting band aids on the war on poverty,” Cain lamented, being very critical of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s “unconditional war on poverty.

“You’ve got to ask your self, what do we have to show for $20 trillion in the last 50 years?” he asked.

Nearly 50 million people are still below the poverty line.
