In a speech at The White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism on Thursday morning, President Barack Obama declared that it would be incorrect to say that the United States was at war with Islam.

“The notion that the West is at war with Islam is an ugly lie and all of us, regardless of our faith, have a responsibility to reject it,” Obama said.
Obama hoped that Islamic countries would rally around Muslims who do not engage in terrorist acts, and help re-brand the misconception that all Muslims are extremists.
“A lot of the bad is absorbed,” Obama said of the misconception.
“Not enough of the good.”
