Camp Freddy, a hard rock super group featuring members of some of music’s greatest bands, will play a benefit show on Oct. 26 to celebrate our armed forces. The group will play the second annual “All Hallows Eve” party — a Halloween party where all proceeds will go to benefit the Boulder Crest Retreat for Wounded Warriors.

The concert will take place at Washington, D.C.’s famous 9:30 Club.
The concert was put together by John Murray, former Deputy Chief of Staff to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Before his life in Washington, music was the driving force for the Seattle native.
“I’m from Seattle, played drums in rock bands and am a huge music aficionado.” Murray told Rare in a recent interview.
When searching for a musical partner to join in the fun, the Hollywood-based cover band Camp Freddy was a logical choice. Camp Freddy is legendary in the L.A. club scene. The revolving troupe of musicians features Dave Navarro (Janes Addiction) on lead guitar; Billy Morrison (Billy Idol) playing rhythm guitar; Chris Chaney (Janes Addiction) on bass; Josh Freese (Weezer, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails) manning the drums and singer Donavan Leitch. Camp Freddy has joined Murray several times before, including stops at the 2012 Republican and Democratic National Conventions. Murray believes that Camp Freddy is the perfect act to celebrate our troops and the union between Halloween and rock music.
“I think there is a really cool connection between rock music and Halloween. If you think about rock culture, so much of it is intertwined with the themes of Halloween. We thought it would be really cool to make a great Halloween event, bring Camp Freddy to town and find a great charity to help us do as much as we can to help,” Murray said.
The night’s benefactor, the Boulder Crest Retreat for Wounded Warriors is a recovery and wellness center for returning veterans and their families. At Boulder Crest, wounded soldiers relax in a rural environment with their loved ones while going on nature walks, attending yoga and meditation classes and dealing with the physical and mental stress of returning home. The center can accommodate up to 500 families a year and is free of charge for those seeking a break.
“Given the sacrifice that the men and women in the military for all of us, it’s a no-brainer to want to try and support them,” Murray added.
Given the state of partisan politics in Washington, Murray is hopeful this event and others like it can continue to unite the parties on issues and allow those in attendance to have a great time for a great cause.
“It’s a natural coming together. We live in a very political town; this is not a political issue. We want to have an event that gives a bipartisan focus. Let’s pick an issue and bring people together; let’s rally around something that everyone can agree on.”
Tickets for the event are available at ticketfly.com. The proceeds will benefit the Boulder Crest Retreat for Wounded Warriors.
