The Lost Highway actor is dead at 89 years old. The news has been confirmed by his niece, Noreen Austin. The actor died due to ongoing complications with long-term heart disease.
Robert Blake had quite the career. He started in a childhood role in a series called Our Gang at the age of 5. He starred in several major films and television shows.
A Lifetime In The Lights
Blake has a sixty year career in acting under his belt. Films like Treasure of the Sierra Madre. His last film was Lost Highway.
The actor was known for his role as an undercover detective Tony Baretta. It was on the air for four seasons. He won an Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1975. He was nominated again for the same role in 1977. He earned two other Emmy nominations for lead actor in the miniseries Blood Feud and Judgement Day: The John List Story.
Fans have also seen Blake on The Tonight Show. He was a recurring guest. He appeared in plenty of skits with his friend Johnny Carson alongside with other celebs.

Unfortunately, Robert Blake’s story has some darker connotations.
A three-month trial took place for the murder of his second wife. She was found shot to dead outside of a restaurant called Vitello in the San Fernando Valley in 2001. Robert was charged with the murder in 2002. There were other charges involved including solicitation of murder, conspiracy, and special circumstances of lying in wait. He was acquitted of all charges.
A wrongful death suit filed against him by his second wife’s children. Her murder is still officially unsolved.
