In 2013, the British actress, age 36, began her acting career with a small role on HBO’s True Blood. This makes 2023 quite special. During an interview with PEOPLE, it was pointed out that Turner-Smith has been a pillar in the industry for a decade. “Wow, happy 10 years to me!”
“I didn’t even think about that, that it’s been 10 years, I can’t believe it,” she continued, “There’s something so special about finding something that you really like and working very hard at it and seeing what happens.”
Actress Jodie Turner-Smith is currently busy promoting the movie “Murder Mystery 2“, in which she stars alongside Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. However, she believes that her role in the 2019 film “Queen & Slim” was a game-changer for her, both in her personal and professional life.
“I watched it and I remember that I just cried because I had no idea I was capable of that,” she shared. “I felt proud of myself.”

When the pieces began to fall into place in her professional life, they came together personally as well – with Joshua Jackson.
She shared sweet details about the whirlwind romance. “Everything happened at the same time for me. It was like, I fell in love right before I started this movie that would basically change my life, and then by the time I was putting this movie out I was pregnant, I was secretly married and I was trying to have one moment and not let the other moment overshadow it, which is why I tried to keep it secret.”
“The whole world stopped and there was a global pandemic and I got to slow down with this precious child of mine,” she continued, “There’s so much guilt and pressure on women and mothers to just act as though you haven’t just gone through this deeply transformational process, this life-changing, earth-shattering, body and perception-shifting transformation.”
She shared her experience with birth and her motherhood journey. “The pandemic smacked me in the face and forced me to slow down, and I’m so glad it did.”
