Paul Stanley Schmidt, 37, was tragically stabbed to death in front of his 3-year-old daughter Erica. It’s alleged that the killer attacked Schmidt because he requested that he not use his vape in front of his toddler.

The Attack
Schmidt and his daughter were at a coffee shop in Vancouver at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. His fiancée, Ashley Umali, was getting drinks.
A video was posted to social media of the tragic incident. The man sporadically stabbed Schmidt in the stomach. He stumbled to the ground in a pool of his blood.
Paul’s mother, Kathy Schmidt, shared additional details about the attack. The killer has been identified as Inderdeep Singh Gosa.
“This is so horribly wrong what happened. He was just trying to protect his daughter. I’m angry and I’m sad,” Kathy told the news outlet Vancouver Sun.
“It all started because he was vaping beside the baby. Ashley’s in shock — she watched the whole thing. She’s so devastated,” Schmidt continued.
Disheartening Tragedy
She was shocked that no one came to her son’s aid. “I was incredibly surprised that nobody from inside the Starbucks called for help, nobody outside called for help. It wasn’t until basically he was in dire straits that somebody flagged down an officer on the sidewalk.”
“What kind of world are we living in when you take your family to Starbucks in the middle of the afternoon and you’re attacked and killed, with many people standing around videotaping and watching?” she continued.
Gosa has been charged with second-degree murder. Paul’s mother would like the charge increased to first-degree. A charge in which prosecution would have to prove premeditation.
“He had a knife. I don’t carry a knife into a coffee shop, do you?”
This is horrible. I am not a fan of vaping myself. I have horrible allergies and can’t stand the smell. I get an immediate migraine from it. He just asked a simple request not to vape around his daughter. There is such a thing as second hand vaping and side effects. Prayers go out to his daughter and family. May he rest in peace.
Where’s the research on second hand vaping? Not trying to change the subject from the important topic, but you did and I call bs. Back on track, either party could of just walked away from eachother, didn’t need to come to homicide.

…yes, I DO carry a knife (and gun) into a coffee shop and everywhere else I go, so that I’m able to defend myself agains evil like this.

Not in Canada!
Unless we start doing more for folks with mental issues and helping them, start really enforcing the laws on the books already about gun ownership and background checks,, getting rid of all the guns will do nothing in stopping the killing going on,
There has to be more to this story than what the author is telling us. I don’t see a man killing another man for merely asking him not to vape around his baby. I would like to hear the murderers side of the story.
